Pet ambulance in running for top award

MIDLANDS Pet Ambulance CIC has been named as a finalist in the ASA Animal Star Awards 2026.

The not-for-profit organisation, based in Castle Donington, near East Midlands Airport in Leicestershire, has been selected in the Best Pet Related Business category.

The ambulance is dedicated to providing emergency veterinary and pet transport services.

Operating across large parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Nottinghamshire, the service helps pet owners get their animals to veterinary care safely and quickly - whether for routine appointments or urgent, out-of-hours emergencies.

Equipped with specialist veterinary transport equipment and run by a team of committed volunteers, the organisation ensures pets of all shapes and sizes receive professional, compassionate care during transit.

Midlands Pet Ambulance CIC is also focused on keeping services accessible, offering support to pet owners facing financial hardship wherever possible.

The organisation says being named a finalist recognises its growing impact within the community and its commitment to animal welfare.

Craig Thompson, director of Midlands Pet Ambulance CIC, said: "We’re incredibly proud to be recognised as a finalist.

"This nomination reflects the dedication of our volunteers and the support from the community.

"Our mission has always been simple - to ensure pets can access urgent veterinary care when they need it most, regardless of circumstances."

The winner will be announced at the ASA Animal Star Awards ceremony, taking place in Wolverhampton on July 15.
