A PET food company backed by investors on Dragon’s Den has appointed a canine behaviourist to help support dog owners and their anxious pets.
Nico Joiner has joined the team at Omni Pet, which produces allergy-friendly, healthy food, to oversee the new project.
He now leads the firm’s free behaviour consultation service, which offers tailored, one-to-one guidance to help overcome challenges such as separation anxiety, noise reactivity, travel stress, and fear of fireworks.

Nico said: ‘Omni are genuinely committed to supporting our dogs overall wellbeing and I feel that’s a complete package now I’m joining the team.
“Combining evidence-based behaviour support along with practical, easily applicable training tools, I’m confident in being able to make a positive impact to the day to day lives of dog’s and their champions.
“The key for me is developing a partnership with an owner and focussing on the wellbeing of both dog and owner to come to a solution together.’
Nico’s appointment comes as Omni’s stress and anxiety soft chews have seen a surge in demand, with sales increasing by over 600%, highlighting a growing awareness of the impact of canine stress on wellbeing.
By pairing vet-formulated calming supplements with Nico’s personalised behavioural expertise, Omni provides a holistic approach to canine mental health, to help dogs feel calmer and owners more confident while strengthening the bond between them.
Nico studied Animal Welfare, Behaviour and Rehabilitation at the University of Bristol, combining academic knowledge with a practical approach to dog behaviour.
Prior to joining Omni, he spent 18 years with the UK’s largest dog rehoming charity, developing welfare initiatives, mentoring teams nationwide, and delivering international workshops in Singapore, France, Portugal, Malta, Lithuania, Croatia, and Cyprus.
